Music – curriculum information
In line with the National curriculum, the music curriculum aims to deliver pupils opportunities to listen and evaluate a wide range of musical periods, genres and styles of music. Pupils are provided with a wide range of musical skills to develop a love of music and increase their self-confidence. The curriculum encourages pupils to sing, perform as musicians and create their own music through an understanding of how music is created.
The curriculum is supported by ‘Charanga’ music school, which develops skills as it progresses through each topic. Pupils listen appraise and appraise music before identifying and performing rhythms and patterns through activities before performing their own work with instruments. Pupils will also have opportunities to perform for the school and the wider community.
